Leave the hustle and bustle Ho Chi Minh City for a peaceful drive through the countryside to Tay Ninh in the morning. Approximately 95 km to the northwest from Ho Chi Minh City is the Temple of Cao Dai, home to the eclectic Caodaism – a Vietnamese religious movement that incorporates Buddhism, Taoism, Confucianism and Christianity, exquisitely reflected in its unique blended architectural style.
In the afternoon, discover the Tunnels of Cu Chi, an historic region of the Vietnam/US War. Stretching from Saigon to the Vietnam-Cambodia border, the network includes countless trapdoors, entangled living areas, storage facilities and weapons factories, mini military hospitals, command centres and even kitchens.
The car will leave Ho Chi Minh City centre at around 08:00 AM. An early start will ensure you’re not gonna miss the typical southern Vietnamese scenery en route to Tay Ninh.
Enjoy the panoramic view of rice paddies and the local’s traditional village life as the car escapes the busy city, heading to the tranquil countryside. After lunch, get to know more about the guerrilla warfare with a visit to the legendary Cu Chi Tunnels.
During the 1960s war, the Cu Chi Tunnels provided essential shelter as well as supply lines and were vital to the victory of the Vietnam troops. In this tour, you’ll explore the Ben Dinh or Ben Duoc section of the tunnels. To learn about the Cu Chi tunnels history and to get a feel of what life was like for Viet Cong soldiers underneath the ground. At the end of the tour, adventurers also have the opportunity to fire an AK47 or M16 at the nearby Cu Chi tunnels shooting range.
