Mekong delta, which yields enough rice to feed the country with a
sizable surplus, was formed by sediment deposited by the Mekong. The
process continues today, with silt deposits extending the shoreline by
as much as 80m per year. The river is so large that it has two daily
tides. Lush with rice paddies and fish farms, this delta plain also
nourishes the cultivation of sugarcane, fruit, coconut and shrimp.
Although the area is primarily rural, it is one of the most densely
populated regions in Vietnam and nearly every hectare is intensively
- Saigon - Ben Tre - Can Tho
In the morning, leave the hustle and bustle of the big city behind as the scenery is gradually replaced with rice paddies and rural villages on your drive to BenTre. En route, we will stop and pay a short visit to a wet market in Ben Tre. Take a boat trip around Bến Tre islets to sight-seeing local activities on the river. Stop to see how people make brick. Continue gliding under a canopy of tropical foliage as your boat winds through lush Cai Son and Nhon Thanh canals. En-route, take a short visit for the coconut processing factory and see some family making mats. Then, take a motor cart (xe loi) or bicycle passing by rice fields and vegetable plains to know the local people’s life in the country. Take a rest and have lunch Mr. Hai Ho house. Their hospitality and simple and healthy food will surely make your trip even more enjoyable. After Vietnamese lunch, you will take a rowing-boat along small canals surrounded by water palm trees. Return to Bentre city for heading to homestay in Cantho. Living in a typical Vietnamese house, with airy rooms and outdoor kitchen, they welcome guests with gracious hospitality and the experience offers a true taste of Delta life. The rest of this afternoon is free to bike the dirt paths surrounding the home stay or to join a cooking demonstration. The homestay hosts show you how to prepare some Vietnamese dishes. Dinner will be served at the home stay.

- Can Tho - Long Xuyen - Chau Doc
An early morning wake-up rewards you with a breakfast and then cruise through Cai Rang floating market. After exploring the maze of vendors, return to Can Tho for lunch followed by a drive to Chau Doc. Exploring Chau Doc and its surroundings. Enjoy a short driv to Tra Su bird Sanctuary where you will take a rowing boat to discover the array of splendid canals and approach the forest to watch wild birds such as storks, canes and other tropical birds and you will enjoy sweeping views of the countryside as the sun sets. Back to Chaudoc. Freshen-up and enjoy your own leisure. Overnight in Chau Doc

- Chau Doc - Saigon
Embark on a boat trip to a unique village inhabited by the Cham people and discover their fantastic silk weavingskills. Take a boat to Chau Giang District where a tiny mosque serves the local Cham community. Continue to a Khmer Temple, floating fish farms and on to Sam Mountain in time to catch the sunrise over the countryside. Back to Chaudoc and take a 6hour journey to Saigon. Enroute, stop to visit Sadec town being a romantic and colonial little town and well-known as “Garden of Cochin-China.” Visit a authentic market near the river and a lot of architecture from the colonial period. Sadec is a true hidden gem in the Mekong delta. After lunch, we are going ahead to Saigon.
